석문방조제 - 충남당진

● 2006년 8월 21일. 서울에서 해남까지 자전거 여행 중 둘째 날 저녁
석문방조제.... 1987년부터 1995년까지 만든 방조제이며 거리는 약 10.6km가 된다. 10.6km라....
자전거로 무작정 달리고 달려도 최소한 30분에서 최대 1시간 가까이 달려야 한다. 게다가 방조제의 길은 왕복 2차로, 편도 1차로로써 차들도 항상 왔다갔다 달리고 있다. 결국 이 길은 거의 1시간 가까이 달려갔는데.... 출발하기 전에는 윗 사진처럼 어느정도 밝았지만 도착하고 난 후에는 아무것도 보이지 않는 깜깜한 한밤중이 되었다.

야간에 자전거를 타는 것은 매우 위험하다. 그것이 일반 국도나 일반 도로라면 더욱 그렇다. 이럴 땐, 앞에서 오는 차, 그리고 뒤에서 오는 차에게 자전거가 달리고 있다는 표현이나 신호를 해줘야 한다. 결국 자전거 앞쪽에 헤드라이트를 달고 뒷쪽에 빨간 깜빡이 경광등을 단다. 하지만 8시가 지나니 아주 어두워져서 헤드라이트만으로는 10미터 전방의 모습을 확인할 수 없다. 그래서 등산이나 낚시할 때 쓰는 헤드라이트-이마나 머리에 쓰는 해드렌턴-을 장착하고 달릴 수 밖에 없었다. 그렇게 석문방조제를 완전히 지난 시간은 어느새 8시 17분....

그러나 방조제에서 바라본 낙조는 또 다른 느낌을 준다.
